Happy Belated Retirement Anniversary!

It’s been over two years since I retired myself from the Rat Race. It was a tough decision as I toiled with the safety blanket of employment while having to deal with the baggage that comes with it. Nonetheless, I made that tough choice and here I am today living the Dot Com Lifestyle! There isn’t much that I’ve regretted. I’ve had more time for myself, I’m not stressed, I can attend my weekly Dot Com Pho (even a Dot Com Whistler), I’ve travelled quite a bit compared to when I was employed, and the best part is that my job is now playing with cool tech toys full time!

Every so often, I do think back to what it would be like if I was still working for LD. I think about the good people I left behind, the camaraderie and the great discounts. But then I remember dealing with an incompetent assistant, listening to people bitch about how the piece of crap refurbished VCR they bought ate their daughters graduation tape, and how upper management was taking no responsibility for flushing the company down the hole, while creating a huge gaping hole in their relationship with the employees by making it clear that they thought they were better. I definitely made the right choice and I couldn’t be happier.

For my first retirement anniversary, I dealt with a bit of burn out. Going too fast and not pacing myself. I mean, with all the free time, what else was i going to do? Since then, I’ve learned to maintain a slower pace.

So what will my third anniversary bring? Hopefully more cool tech toys, continued growth of my sites, and more opportunities to travel to cool places and meet new people. Every day is a bit of an adventure and I hope to be here telling you about my 25th Anniversary one of these days.

Congrats on the two-year. I’m thinking that you enjoy this lifestyle much more than the LD crunch.

I can’t wait to be in your shoes. I am sore right now from work. It sucks so bad. I can’t wait to tell people my job is to work on my website/s. I guess for now, I have to balance both, on top of marriage, daughter, everything else that sucks up my time/money.

I used to day dream all day about my sites while at work. I would recommend not taking the decision lightly as it’s very important that you hope for the best, and plan for the worst. It also helps to have a spouse’s support that gets what you want to do. It makes all the difference. Hope to see you living the Dot Com Lifestyle soon :)

I’ve been trying to convince my wife that she should start leading the Dot Com lifestyle while she is at home, but she has zero interest so I am left to keep plugging along until I have built things up to the point where they can support the family.

Happy anniversary Stephen!

Congrats Stephen! Love the rant about LD, LOL.

I think the Dot Com lifestyle is a bit healthier too…I am just thinking about your McD food run stories while working at LD!!

LD always made me a fatty during the holidays. At one point, my doctor was worried about me because my cholesterol level spiked from all those convenience stops to McDeath.

Healthier and happier, that I’m definitely certain of!
