My One Year Retirement Anniversary

One year ago today, I retired from the Rat Race. Although I’m experiencing a little burnout at the moment, I wouldn’t trade what I’m doing right now for a job again. I get to set my own schedule, play with some of the coolest toys, and go to some of the best parties. Although I didn’t have a retirement party this year, I thought it’d be fun to remember a few of my accomplishements.

  • I came close to hitting Dot Com Mogul Status in July of last year.  I only missed being Number One on Google.  However, this January I made it and if all goes well, I’ll be making it a couple of more times again this year. I’m even on WikiPedia now.
  • Unlike my old job, working on my business full time has allowed me opportunities to travel.  For the first time in over 16 years, I got the opportunity to travel to Asia.  Going to COMPUTEX was such a great experience for me to get out of North America.  This segways(sp?) into my next cool thing…
  • As a “Retiree” I’ve been able to take time to improve myself.  One of the things that I’ve done is take Mandarin Lessons which should make life in Taiwan for the upcoming COMPUTEX even more successful.  I’ve also taken steps to improve my writing through courses and to increase my booksmarts by actually reading books. This is something that I haven’t done since College and now I always have something that I’m working on.

The last year has gone by quickly and for this next year, I really have to learn to pace myself better.  I’ve been pushing hard to maximize my revenue opportunities and build up my web properties and I’m happy that I was able to catch myself before totally going over the edge.

Last year, I only had Futurelooks to worry about.  This year, I have my growing blog, MegaTechNews and LaptopLifestyle to worry about.  I can’t wait to get back into it, but I’m going to stick to the slower pace until my head is ready to get back into it.  I’m also fighting off an annoying cold so I have no choice but to take it easy and have some fun.
