Why Identity Theft is Easy…

It’s because being a victim is hard, and getting something done about it is even harder!

So besides dealing with being sick over the last couple days, I had to follow up with trying to figure out what to do with our “Peng Yu” identity theft criminal. The first thing I did was call the local police to lodge a complaint. They ask me where this person lived. I told them somewhere in Quebec. The nice lady on the phone gave me a phone number to call there as it was not in their jurisdiction. I call up the Quebec number. Turns out that the number is wrong, and gets me to the Probabation and Parole office. They are helpful, and give me a new number. The next number I get, no one speaks English at all, just French. I know she understands English because I’m speaking broken French with some English mixed in, but of course, because Quebec hates the West, she plays it dumb. But I’m polite, and wait till she is able to give me the number of the local Police Department.

I get a hold of the local Police Department. I tell them what happened with our criminal “Peng Yu”. He listens, but says, basically, because the crime happened in New York, it was a matter for them, but they would co-operate with the investigation.

In the meantime, I file this guys ass to the FBI Cyber Crimes division. Not sure if anything will get done though. Still need to find a New York Precinct that will listen to my problem as I’m sure they are out chasing down car thieves or gangsters. What a pain!
