Time To Get My Ass Back in Shape!

Okay, it’s time to get my frame back to the way it was before I decided to haul ass and get myself out of the Rat Race!

Today, I weighed in at a tubby 180 lbs.  For my height, 155 - 165 lbs is really where I should be.  The last time I was this heavy was 3 years ago when I was working during the Xmas rush, and the only eatery was the MacDonalds.  I ate a double quarter pounder meal for lunch, and a double quarter pounder meal for dinner.  I was working midddle shifts so I really didn’t have a whole lot of choice, plus because I was sharing my old place with a bunch of roommates at the time, the kitchen was always a disaster.  I just found it easier to eat out and avoid that sesspool.

To make a long story short, within a month and a half, I ballooned to 195 lbs by January.  So if you have ever wondered if the stuff in that movie “Super Size Me” was true, my answer is definitely.

Today, I went for my first run in a long time.  Got myself some new runners a couple weeks back, and put them to the test.  I was concentrating on form and efficiency, and was able to run fairly briskly for 3.0 KM’s, until I started to tire.  The last KM was a bit tougher, but I finished the 4.0 KM.  I concentrated on running with a quiet torso, and stabilizing my abs, maintaining an even and quiet gait.  I learned a long time ago that form and efficiency are keys to top running performance, and as a result of my lessons, it saved me from a very painful run during my out of shape phase.

At the end of the run, I felt tired, but content with the effort.  I’m hoping to reach 8 KM’s before heading to Taiwan for the COMPUTEX show.  Hopefully, all that great food there won’t undo all my hardwork ;)

Congrats on the online wealth! You’re on your way to joining the club!

No one needs to “Roost” every morning on a bike. Grab some runners, and go for a run. It is by far the cheapest way to get yourself into shape. If you don’t run, at least walk briskly. The best time of day for exercise is 30 minutes in the AM. Since you’re working nights, it should be easy to fit in, and you’ll feel like you have more energy the rest of the day. Just don’t forget to eat breakfast ;)

I guess I didn’t mention HOW I got back to 165 lbs. Well, I actually started to jog to work every morning. I’d pack my breakfast, and jog 6 KM’s to work each morning. Well, at first, it was jog, walk, jog walk, but eventually, it became jog, then run. At one point, I could get to work in under 20 minutes with a pack on my back. So that 30 minutes of exercise in the AM definitely made the difference. Though at first, I felt a little sore and tired, it took only 2 weeks for my energy and metabolism to head upwards. I was down 20 lbs in one month, and I lost the rest along the way. I’m following the same routine now. If I can lose 10 lbs before Taiwan, that’d be awesome!

Well, as long as I ease into it and don’t injure myself overdoing it, the outlook is good. I have to fit into my Summer wardrobe! I don’t remember my clothes ever being this tight LOL!

Buncha lightweights on here….

I lost ten pounds by just quitting drinking pop for a month…and I drink Diet Coke. Must be something in it that makes you retain weight or water or something, cuz it sure isn’t the sugar or the calories. I also stopped having stomach pain when I quit. Of course, then I started again…being a hedonist is hard on the willpower…
