Techies Remember James Kim

It was a huge loss for the web and tech community yesterday as the body of James Kim, Senior Editor of CNET, was found in the Oregon wilderness. James, along with his wife and two daughters had been stranded in the wilderness after their vehicle got stuck on a backcountry road. While his family stayed with the car, James set off to find help. His family was rescued on Monday, but unfortunately, James was found dead due to hypothermia yesterday.
I remember watching James on TechTV, and later reading his articles on CNET. It is unfortunate that we’ve never had a chance to formally meet, though I’m sure I’ve bumped into him at the many events we both cover in passing. I feel as though I’ve lost a colleague, and the industry has lost one of its brightest stars. His work paved the way for other webmasters and myself to do what we love to do best, which is play with the coolest gadgets, teach people about them, and have fun doing it.
James leaves behind a wife, two daughters and all of his devoted fans. You can make a donation to the family here. The family is also putting together a time capsule for his two young daughters that contain footage throughout his career so that one day, they can see the legacy that their father has left behind. Rest in peace James.
