Stephen Fung DOT NET High Five

It’s been a while since the last high five. Sorry. All the travelling and the wicked sunshine outside has made me somewhat lazy. Anyway, here are five things that I think you should go have a look at in the blogosphere. Dooo eeet!

Ashwin Khanna – Ashwin is giving away $2500.  Apparently, instead of spending it all on promotional tools like advertising and online promotion, he’s just going to give away in one huge blaze of glory to promote his new blog. The contest ends on August 20th and will be paid by Paypal. You can read about it at Ashwin’s Blog. I hope the winner does something for charity with the money first before blowing the rest of it on beer.  It’ll taste better after ;)

Oubipaws – There is some confusion over at Oubipaws.  This part time Gamestop employee is confused by how quickly jealousy can escalate and kill friendships.  Jealousy is the Root of All Evil he says, but I thought John Chow was the Root of All Evil?  If your friends can’t accept you for wanting to be all you can be, you don’t need them. There are always people that say they will do something someday, but last time I checked, someday wasn’t a day of the week.

Mr. Gary Lee – The iPhone Lady should have checked this out before wasting her money and looking like a total idiot on national TV.  Mr. Gary Lee is giving away a free iphone on his blog. OK, it’s not really free because he wants you to link to him with the phrases “Internet Marketing” and “free iPhone” and pimp his new golf blog (reminds me of that commercial where the secret ingredient is “AND”). The deadline for this contest is “sometime mid to late August” so you better enter “sometime” before then. I’m sure some of you “iCultists” will want one. If someone gave me one, I might have to see if it would blend.  How stupid is not having “Stereo Bluetooth”? Probably not as stupid as walking around with a bluetooth headset AND a set of headphones at the same time.  If you still want it, go enter here.

Ed Edition – Although Ed is the model employee when it comes to the many ways of slacking on the job (next to Randall in the movie Clerks), he does have his moments of epiphany.  In this post “Blogging Can’t Be Forced or Rushed“ he asks us to slow down and consider quantity vs. quality before pushing the publish button. His post is either one of the wisest things I’ve heard, or the most devious way to justify being lazier.  However, since I’ve been no better lately, I’ll call it a little of both. In fact, I wanted to post this link last month, but was too lazy to do it.

Leo Chiang – Leo recently busted up his Mustang in an accident that was sort of a Deja Vu of my own accident with my Old Impreza. Luckily, it was one of those “low velocity accidents” and Leo only hurt his pride because he hit a Minivan. Why couldn’t he hit something more glorious?  At any rate, his car is in the shop and they gave him a CIVIC to drive.  Now if you know Leo, he’s all about his muscle cars and V8’s.  Now imagine how happy he is to be driving around in a CIVIC of all things. I guess it could be a lot worse.  He could be driving a Hyundai, which was an experience that scarred me for life.

OK, that’s all I’ve got.  Time to get back outside and enjoy the Summer ;)

The good news is that I’m spending the weekend in Chilliwack so the Civic will definitely be easy on the gas :)
Still can’t wait to get my Stang back, this summer weather is perfect driving conditions for muscle cars.
