When we switch to Shaw Home Phone (not VOIP) they told us this and said that if we place a 911 call they would ask us address information. As a safety net we also have a couple of cell phones in the house and if the telephone won't work, atleast we have the cell phone and 911 is able to get location information from that.

Mos last blog post..<a href="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/oibo/XVpH/~3/284022985/addicted-addict-and-damn-proud.html" rel="nofollow">I’m Addicted - I’m An Addict And DAMN PROUD!</a>

Yup, that is the first thing that needs to be understood. I have been involved in the VoIP industry for several years now and the first thing I told my clients was "Make sure you have current information on file or 911 will not work".

It is actually a no brainer, VoIP has been around long enough for people to know this.
