Social Responsibility as a Dot Com Mogul…

A few weeks ago, I met up with Michael Kaye of Digitizeme.info. Michael was interested in writing for me and needed ideas for promoting his site. Michael has some interesting content, links, and even his own PodCasts. It breaks my heart to see someone put so much work into his site, and get so little return. In fact, he didn’t even want to mention how much he made on the site, but by his tone, and the fact that he mentioned the wife was on his back about it, really put things into perspective.
A couple weeks later, I had a sit down with Michael to go through his first assignment for Futurelooks and I offered to go through his site with him to see if I could get his dollars up. When he pulled his site up, I noticed some Google Faux Pas that I caught right away.
The keys to google success are placement and integration. Michael’s Google implementation did not follow these basic principles. In a nutshell, no one clicked on them. We worked on his Google ad integration since he was limited by placement options due to the software he was using. Thanks to a little bit of colour magic, Michael now sees anywhere from 2 – 4 dollars a day with his traffic. I knew this was a big increase because he called me up to chat about it. He was very excited.
It feels good to help others. I recommend it!
