So I Crack 100 Agloco Referrals…

After cracking one hundred regular readers on my RSS Feed, it looks like that’s not the only thing that has broken the century mark…

I broke 100 AGLOCO referrals… Great…

It appears that my AGLOCO (aff) referrals have decided to grow on without me. I had totally forgotten about it until I heard some mumbling about them not making it in time to launch their viewbar for the seven week marker.

Originally, back in December AGLOCO sent out this email touting how many members they had, and how that mythical viewbar was still 7 – 10 weeks away. Well, the 7th week ended up being last week’ish, and AGLOCO responded at their blog with a post saying that they’d need until March. It looks like they are going to use up ALL the time they bought themselves.

It’s actually getting very difficult NOT to run into an AGLOCO conversation somewhere. I’m starting to have people try to recruit me. I guess because I’ve been pretty silent about it, no one even knows that I have an account. I am disturbed however by the wide eyed glimmer in their eyes as they proceed to give me their pitch. It’s kind of creepy.

At any rate, I’m not going to try to sell you on it. You’re all adults. You figure out if it’s a train (or train wreck) you want to be on, but throw me a bone by using my referral link (aff) if this post has touched you in some way. This will be my last post about AGLOCO until they launch that viewbar. I’m done waiting and I don’t care if the people with big downlines want them to delay it even more so they can build their referrals. People hate being strung along like this. They’re just too afraid of the AGLOCO Nazi’s to say anything. Enough about that…

What’s this (aff) thing? What are you trying to sell me now?

This post also gave me an opportunity to test out my (aff) marker. The aff in (aff) stands for Affiliate as in Affiliate Marking. I’ll be using this on any referral links for anything that gives me a cut of the action. Then that way I’m not accused of suckering you into something. I’ve noticed a lot of bloggers using this to tag their referral links, and I think it’s a good idea and yet another way to add a bit more transparency to a blog.

So from now on when I mention Text Link Ads (aff) or Google Adsense (aff) and that (aff) is there, it’s the same as using a tip jar. If you don’t think I deserve a tip, then don’t use my link. If I don’t put it there, then the link is clean. If I forget, please let me know ;)

I’ve been using the (aff) marker myself as I just didn’t like the idea of trying to hide it and *trick* people into making me money from an affiliate. I’d much rather be upfront with people and let them decide if they want to throw me a bone.

As for AGLOCO, I had about given up on it with only 1 referral and then I made another post about it a few weeks ago. That post saw my referrals increase dramatically, all the way to 4! Lol.

Yeah, it’s a great idea. I saw it on ProBlogger and noticed that JC was also using it lately. (aff) is standard issue from now on.

I have one thing to say about AGLOCO: Show me the Viewbar or stop wasting people’s time.

Before AGLOCO Nazi’s regurgitate “But it takes no time! It takes no money!” let me refute by saying that, well, you have to tell someone about it don’t you? You have to answer questions about it sometimes don’t you? Time = Money right? Anything worth doing takes time and effort of some sort. That is very misleading advertising.

I’m with you on the Viewbar, either release it so people can really see if it is worth it or stop the hype already. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll be happy to have more people sign up under me but I am not about to try and push people to do so when there is nothing to do yet.

ShoeMoney recently posted a little rant about AGLOCO that I thought was a good read.

It’s OK to drop a link if it’s relevant ;) I assume you mean this one?

Yeah, that is the link I was referring to and will keep that in mind the next time I have a relevant link to add.

Now I just need to figure out a way to make all of my posts into a relevant link for your site. Lol.

What is it? I mean, like is it just another ‘thing’ to sign up and make $0.30 per month?

Or is it more of a ‘networking’ thing where they track your web surfing?

I think this post should answer some of your questions…

Officially, no one is making any money right now. Just a bunch of people signed up with nothing to do but sign more people up to wait around with. So yeah, definitely a network marketing thing for sure.

A little more on the Spyware/Web Surfing tracking…

I also noticed that your site seems to highlight certain terms in orange, like Google. What’s up with that?

I thought it was green? I’m running IntelliTXT on a very limited basis. Did you use the search function? It highlights terms in orange like your’e describing.

I’m getting them in orange highlights. Could it be because I access your blog through my Google personalized homepage?

I dunno. Maybe? I know Google doesn’t like other contextual style ads, so maybe in lieu of letting it slide, they make their ads look uglier?

To this point, all of my referrals are direct referrals so I just need those people to get on the ball and each get a few hundred referrals of their own to build my network. Lol.

Same for me! I have 4 direct and one extended, so I’m not that much further ahead.

Hey great site, I’m looking forward to the release of the toolbar then we’ll really be able to see how things go from there.
