One Week to Go!

Well, 7 days to go till retirement! Woo Hoo!

I’ve been spending today and yesterday fighting off the Norwalk virus.  Yup, that same virus that kills elderly folks because it just totally dehydrates them.  What a great retirement present!  Well, I guess I have to use up those sick days ;)  Today, I feel a whole lot better, except for profuse sweating and a lot of farting :P  I knew you all wanted to hear that!

COMPUTEX plane tickets are booked.  We leave on the 3rd of June, and get back on the 14th.  After humming and hawwing between Economy Class and Evergreen Class on EVA Airways (and having John rib me during the process), I decided to spend the extra money on the Evergreen tickets.  $1650 later, I’m going to Taiwan in style.  I’ll have to adjust my wardrobe for this trip because of the humidity and hot weather.  Time to load up on the Nike DriFit stuff.  This will be the most expensive trip I have ever taken, and the first trip I will be taking out of North America in over 18 years.  I’ll also have an opportunity to drop into Hong Kong for a couple days to shop and maybe see some relatives.

Today, I had my house property value assessed.  This is in preparation to go for a home equity line of credit. The offer at the bank is prime minus 1.01%, which means that I’m getting funds lent to me dirty cheap.  This would be an excellent time to top up on some investments for the year.  Since I’m going to be on my own, it is good to have my money working harder than ever.  This line is actually cheaper than my mortgage rate.  Score!  Now I need to go find some investments…
