OK Microsoft…Where’s My Bribe?

Word on the street is that Microsoft has been handing out shiny new ACER Ferrari laptops to bloggers in hopes that they will say nice things about the new Windows VISTA operating system. I guess MS was hoping if the price was good enough it would buy some silence and some praise. Instead, there has been a huge backlash in the blogosphere.
The new OS is due to launch at the end of January and it looks like MS’s propaganda engine is in full swing. Man, for a nice shiny new laptop like that, I’d say a lot of things, but I’d still disclose that I’d been bought out. Apparently there are a lot of blogs that are still keeping zipped about this alleged bribe. I don’t know why they’d keep quiet about that. I mean, if MS sent me a sweet laptop I’d for sure tell you folks about it. MS..are you listening? You can send me one if you like

A buddy of mine Rod mentioned this to me too. The guy got a free Acer Ferrari laptop with absolutely no strings attached.
Other also have received laptops from Microsoft pre-loaded with Vista. I have RC1 but I will wait until the driver base is more solid.
RC2 has been out for a while. I have it, but haven’t actually installed it. I’m probably just going to wait till I can order my upgrades.
Maybe the RC1 is the old one i have on my desk. It’s whatever the most current version on the MSDN anyway.
Eh I’ll install it one day
I have a copy of Vista Ultimate that I got from the Intel Retail Edge thing…but I haven’t really bothered to install it yet.
I would if they gave me a laptop…
MS is probably going to ship our retail review samples soon, but it would be so much easier to test if it was already preloaded on a shiny new laptop.
