My New MacBook Pro Arrives!

My New MacBook Pro Arrives!

After lots of humming and hawwing, I decided to throw down on a Brand New (Refurbished) MacBook Pro 2.5GHz Penryn. Although I’m a pretty hardcore PC guy building computers at a blistering pace, I’m a pretty big fan of the Apple OSX operating system. Using my skills as a PC guy, I was able to fabricate my own Hackint0sh using a bunch of surplus parts from my collection. I’ve been using that machine since May of this year without any problems as my main system in the office, but I really missed having use of it on the road. I even turned my ASUS U1F into a Hackb00k for a while, running the OSX off a USB hard drive. You can see it in action during this Dot Com Pho Episode.

My New MacBook Pro Arrives!

This machine is definitely a lot bigger than I’m normally used to. The U1F is so much smaller than this 15.4 Inch machine. One of the things that I was most impressed with (besides the super fast shipping) was that this machine, while being labelled refurbished, was physically brand new. Except for the sticker under the battery, there was absolutely nothing that distinguished this machine from new. I’ve made a video of the unboxing of this machine for your enjoyment…

This machine definitely needs a 2GB to 4GB upgrade. I’ll be posting a video of the upgrade process a little later on once VIMEO gives my account it’s new 500MB weekly allotment. Stay tuned.

The moment you opened that box, Steve Jobs cracked another smile on his face. That thing looks in pretty good shape! How do you like using this real Mac vs your Hackint0sh setups?

It’s a lot more portable. Can’t imagine myself carting around that other machine. It’s too bad the new OSX update destroyed my Hackbook install, but I couldn’t imagine doing any video or pictures on it. It was just too slow.

I really need to get that Invisible Shield on. I’m nervous about taking it anywhere till its protected. It’s way too pretty.

My price on this MacBook Pro was lower than the price on the PC Notebook I wanted by a lot. I love special discounts ;)
