It Takes a SONIC BOOM to Wake Me Up!

When I hit Taiwan this weekend, there will no doubt be some heavy partying going on.  The COMPUTEX Computer Show in Taiwan is that one time a year where companies let loose for the international media. There are parties every night and it wasn’t uncommon for us to get in at around 1 or 2 in the morning…if we were lucky.  For someone that likes to sleep in a lot, this could be a problem when it comes to making those morning meetings.  That’s why I brought some insurance along…

It Takes a SONIC BOOM to Wake Me Up!

If you think that a regular alarm clock will wake me up, think again.  I’ve tried a lot of different alarm clocks, even multiple alarm clocks, but once I hit the snooze button, I just go right back to bed.  Sometimes I’ll even move my alarm clock just to get me to make the effort to rise from the comfort of my comforter, but I’m still pretty much asleep so it doesn’t do a whole lot of good.  That’s when I discovered the SONIC BOOM from the folks at SONIC ALERT.

While most alarm clocks use an annoying buzzer to try to get you up, this alarm clock shakes you out of bed.  To add insult to injury, the alarm portion is equally, if not more annoying.  The SONIC BOOM is set and placed underneath your pillow like a land mine.  A tether with a clip is provided so that you can attach it to your pillow case so it doesn’t go missing in the middle of the night or it can even be placed under your mattress.  Shoving it under your mattress is absolutely evil because you HAVE to wake up and lift your mattress to shut it off. It also comes with a handy carrying case.

When wakey wakey time comes and this thing goes off, it is like someone has knocked the wind out of you.  The combo of the powerful vibration and the annoying alarm kicks your ass into waking whether you like it or not.  It’s the second rudest and most effective awakening that I’ve ever had.  The first is the non-travel version of this alarm that couples a powerful 12 volt vibrating motor called the “Bed Shaker” that shakes the living crap out of you.

Durability of this product is not an issue. I’ve fumbled it so many times trying to figure out how to turn it off that a lesser product would be dead by now. This will definitely be great insurance for making damn sure I’m up and away in the AM.  It was one of the first things I packed into my suitcase so I won’t leave the country without it. There will be no more being late for appointments this year regardless of how late the party goes.

Looks like a good idea as I even have trouble getting up with multiple alarm clocks. I have to keep moving them around the room. I am actually looking at getting this alarm clock. It gets up and runs away after you hit the snooze button so you have to get up and chase it down.

The only thing that concerns me is that if it is running along the ground, it can be easily kicked into a wall :)

I’ve always wanted something like that! But i never bothered buying one. I’m too good at just going back to sleep or sleeping through music. I can shut off my ears to anything!

You have to get a video done up of you getting blasted out of bed. Maybe the company can shoot over a couple to the blogging community to get each individual reaction from the effects of it.

The buzz it creates from the campaign could be great if the top bloggers will participate. We could all do it on the same day. Not sure how to get a camera to turn on within the range of the wake up “BOOM”.

Food for thought!

That alarm clock is exactly what I need. Right now, I set 3 alarms every night when I go to sleep, and they work maybe 30% of the time. I’d love to see a video of it in action!
