I’m So Wired…

So today, I wired up the office for Ethernet. I put 2 ports on every wall. My fingers are sore from installing conduit, untwisting copper pairs, and installing all the outlets. Since I’ve got CAT 5e running all over the place, it will be a Gigabit Ethernet. I’m using a Dell Powerconnect Gigabit switch with 8 ports. I wanted a bigger one, but this one was such a good deal, and I really don’t need more than 8 ports right now.
The cable company is coming tomorrow to run a line up to the office. Hopefully, I did a good job, and I won’t need to crawl around looking for the fault in the network ![]()

Oh man you are so backward! We are no longer in a wired world! This is the wireless world!
When wireless can transfer at Gigabit Speeds (Even 802.11n only does around 300 Mbps), I’ll totally swap. Besides, nothing beats the performance and low latency of a good wired network.
The wireless network is stronger than ever in the house, and will be stronger with a new BIGGER antenna
