If I Ever Get an Engine Swap…

While I recover from my road trip and sort through my pictures, I leave you today with a video of something pretty amazing.  This totally gives electric engines the street cred they need to become mainstream.  All they have to do is make them not so butt ugly and provide the infrastructure necessary to refuel them on the road.

Man, if I ever get an engine swap, it’ll be electric. Look at this thing take out a couple of fossil fuel burners (a NASCAR and a Lambo) without blinking an eye. Crazy…

PS: Thanks for some really great comments on the USB Flash Drive Giveaway. I definitely got some chuckles from the submissions. If you haven’t entered yet, go now!

I cant imagine the Subaru with an electric engine have the same effect as it drives past though. That deep grumble from the boxer engine is unique.

For some reason when I think of electric power I think of cars making noises like the Jetson mobiles.

The Ariel Atom is a mad car! Youtube has a efw videos of them testing it on Topgear here in the UK. I didnt realise they made an electric version which was in the vid.

Yeah, it would be sad to see the grumble go, but if its going that fast, would anyone care?

I have actually seen a device which has a large speaker under the car to give the noise of the loud engine off.

Also saw one for a waste gate too. LOL.

Oh, you mean that thing that goes “Psh… Psh…” and mimics the sound of a Turbo inside an NA car?

Ya, but the gas burning version of that Atom will eat the electric version. And because it’s so light, it gets good gas mileage too. :)
