I Have Power!

Huge windstorms knocked out power in my neck of the woods for the last day or so. I’m finally back to normal today, and man, like I said before, having no power makes me cry. The second thing that makes me cry is having no Internet. Because so much of the area was blacked out, I was afraid that even my local coffee shop would have no power and no WiFi. Looks like that happened, so I went to my parents place to syphon off their power and Internet.

When the power returned to my area, I had my second fear happen: No Internet. The third thing I cried about was no cable. Apparently something at the cable company happened that knocked out both TV Service and Internet at the same time.

Well, everything is as it should be now. Power, Internet, and TV…mmm… TV… I’m back in happy land now. Unfortunately, due to the volume of email that I get regularly, the first half hour of service was devoted to downloading all my email and deleting the junk. That’s on the list too.

Yea no power can suck. I woke up at about 430am and noticed there were no glow coming from the digital clock.

So I got my butt outa bed, stumbled around for the flashlight so that I could find the candles.

Shaving and showering by candle light was fun. Trees and debris all over the road, my poor little Corolla had to at times drive over fallen trees, ok so they were branches and not trees, but I did see ALOT of fallen trees. SOO MUCH damage around the West Coast (Vancouver and Seatle areas).

Heh, and I missed it all being out east on a road trip. While waiting for my flight in Toronto I saw a CBC news report saying the Stanley Park causeway was closed, so I was all worried about the drive home (I live in North Van). It was fine, but it was wierd coming across Lion’s Gate and seeing the north shore with no power. It was blackout from the bridge all the way up the hill on Main Street. My house tho…full power :)
