Dot Com Pho - Pho-Free Edition

Yesterday, we had Dot Com Pho outside of Richmond for the first time in I don’t know how long. Come to think of it, I don’t think Dot Com Pho has ever happened outside of Richmond, unless you count our botched attempt in Taipei. This week, we decided to do something a little different. Instead of Pho, we went to the Pink Pearl Chinese Restaurant in Vancouver for some Dot Com Dim Sum. Sponsoring the event this week was Gary from BlueFur. Thanks Gary for coming out and for picking up the bill!

In attendance this week was Michael Kwan, Leo Chiang, Tyler Ingram, Ray, and Scooter! Highlights this week include banter about the Top Affiliate Challenge, which quickly changed to the more interesting topic of the final two on Hell’s Kitchen. We also see the darker side of Tyler Ingram as he confesses to wearing Lululemon and stealing Nintendo DS games from kids. We draw the winners of my Flip Flap and iPod nano contest and Scooter makes his first Dot Com Pho appearance…

Congratulations to Enkay Blog and Simon Lau. Both users were drawn using the very scientific and accurate chopstick and scooter helmet method. Enkay wins the unbranded iPod nano which he can choose to keep or sell or giveaway again. It’s nice to have choice. Simon Lau wins the coveted Flip Flap which should keep you relaxed and centered for hours on end! Please contact me with your shipping details, and once again congratulations!

Next week, we’re going to hit another Vancouver location. Since no one lives in Richmond anymore (except Ed and John…and they’re both not here), we’re going to pick yet another different location away from Richmond. See you next week!

THIS IS FAIL!

What’s with all the talking torsos!?

Actually, I wouldn’t mind if we moved Dot Com Pho out to Vancouver. It would have to be a good pho place though since I really like the food at Pho Lan. Or we could just go for…other food.

I’m sure John’s opposed, though since he never wants to put any effort into actually moving.

The problem with Dim Sum is that you don’t just finish your meal and start yakking away. You eat throughout the whole thing and since the food was constantly arriving, we were all too busy eating and too greasy to touch the camear.

If we do dim sum again, we’ll need to bring a small tripod like the previous gadget of the week, the ModoPocket…

http://www.futurelooks.com/manfrotto-modopocket-pocket-sized-mini-tripod-review/

I think that would solve the torso issues and we’ll need to make sure that the spinny table is always turned to the current speaker.

I could bring my ghetto free tripod or $3 Gorillapod knockoff. Talking torsos are not fun, I agree.

Regarding location, I suggested a decent pho place on Kingsway and King Edward. It’s called Pho Thai Hoa (and it’s cheaper than Pho Lan). They’ve got a couple bigger round tables too, I think, that are more suitable for all around conversation.

I have a small tripod that came with a SonyEricsson camera phone that would work too.

Wow, dim sum still served via carts–that’s old school style baby!

LULULEMON SHOULD ONLY BE FOR GIRLS, NOT TYLER INGRAM!! LOL ;)

Dude your scooter looks pretty pimp…the storage is bigger than the trunk of some cars. We need to rent scooters and have a Dot Com Scooter this summer!!!

John + balls = EPIC FAIL

It’s true. I know their clothes are obscenely comfortable but there is no reason for a man to wear Lululemon. I mean, it’s sexy as hell on women…but on a dude with a beard, not so much.

I see 2 trend setting innovations in this video. We’re so used to crane shots, now we got the Spinning Table/Lazy Susan shot, which I’m sure Woody Allen will be using in his next film - The Young and the Headless.

I can see Stephen leading the new Scooter trend in Vancouver - what with high gas prices and environmental concerns. Over the next few years, you will see a flip flop between East and West. More cars in Asia, more scooters in the west.

Or maybe, it’s the beginning of a new Mod movement. Quadrophenia.

NJ.

New Jersey is where such great events should be!

We even have (gasp!) one Vietnamese restaurant here. True. It’s just one. But we do have several to-die-for Korean BBQs…. :)

Best wishes,

Barbara

The DotComDimSum was fun, especially being my first DimSum experience too. Was also cool to mean Leo and Gary as well.

What about doing a DotComHon’s next? Since we want to locate closer to Vancouver and they are great for large amounts of people. Though the suggestion of having DimSum again is good.

Hons is actually a dirty dirty place…but then again, we hit Pho Lan so it can’t be dirtier than that.

We need to have Dot Com Phnom Penh and get some REAL food action going. Forget Pho Lan (aren’t you guys sick of eating pho yet?! NUMBER FIT-TEEN!) and Hon’s…we need chicken wings, butter beef, and filet beef on rice with egg…*drool*…that puts everything else to shame!!!

I’d be down for some Phnom Penh action. Parking down there is a little scary though.

Congrats Enkay! The secret was that you were one of few (along with Simon) that actually maxed out the possible entries. If everyone did that, it would have been a very different draw I think.

Now if only Simon would email me so I can send your prizes out ;)
