Dot Com Mogul or Not for April 2007

Well it looks like January is still the standing benchmark for the year. April has been a huge struggle for me. Having to deal with a bit of burn out, the loose ends connected to my car accident, and now my stupid sinus infection has made April a bit of a nightmare. Highlights however included my trip to Las Vegas and hitting a Lingerie Show. At least some good came out of it, but let's see how I did with my monthly goals.

1. Your income must come about as a result of the money you make from the Internet - That's a CHECK!

2. The minimum internet income level is $10,000 a month (you cannot add income from other sources to hit this $10K level) - I won't be making it this month, but the outlook is strong for the coming months. However, for now NO CHECK

3.You have no jobs outside of the Internet - I celebrated my one year Retirement Anniversary in April. Wow, has time just blown by! Here's to a ton of great years down the road. CHECK!

4. You have a personal blog with your name as the domain name - CHECK THAT!

5. Your blog must be updated at least ONCE PER DAY - I altered this one last month from the previous once a week to once a day. Unfortunately, with all the crap that has happened, my regular posting took a dive. However, we're back on track for this month, but unforunately NO CHECK for April.

6. A Google search of your name must be at the #1 spot - I'm still here and STILL NUMBER ONE! Unfortunately, someone still needs to update that WikiPedia entry with the right info. CHECK!

7. You must be willing to help dot com mogul wannabes - Definitely doing what I can. April wasn't a great month, but I did still manage to help a few. CHECK!

8. Give time, money, or anything of value to a charitable cause each month - Everyone that participated in my Favourite Me for a Charity Contest should put a BIG CHECK on their lists this month. You made that donation possible. Although I was only obligated to give the $62, I bumped that straight up to $100 and donated it to our chosen charity, World Vision.

9. Personally help at least one person establish their online presence via a blog or website or help them enhance one they already have every month - It's been tough to get face time this month with all that's happened. Although officially, I did help "Re-establish" online presences due to a hack attempt on one of my servers that took down Leo, Brice, and Kelly. I'm not giving myself a check because that doesn't fit the spirit of this goal. NO CHECK

April was a tough one. So much happened, but let's not dwell. Time to move onto May and beyond 🙂

  • Forgot to add - why is point four important?

    • Controlling your identity on the web is important.

  • I am looking to go to a hosted site rather than my free wordpress blog. This is the point I am stuck at... I have a Google page rank of 5 so I am guessing all this will be lost once I go to a hosted site (no idea what the name should be either).
Hopefully by going through your site I should get a couple of pointers? Maybe?

    • It is very likely that you will lose your page rank, however, I think that being that your domain is attached to, that could be giving your page rank a free boost.

Why not your own name as your domain?

    • I am also in a similar situation I have a PR 4 and am trying to go to a free hosting...Do yopu have some good host out there Steve..(you ar on Blue fur right?)

      • I host my sites on my own servers. However, BlueFur does offer superior hosting at a very affordable price.

  • Leo

I'd like to just see some money coming in. I don't really care how much, lol 🙂

  • Well you said this the last time too ... how many figures does your online income from this blog touch (if you don't mind saying)

    • I think I hit $700 once during that huge Half Off ReviewMe Spree. But I also spent a bunch of it back on ReviewMe Virgins so that they could see what a ReviewMe was like. Again, Futurelooks is what makes my money. Everything else is a bonus.

But as my daily journal, I just do my thing, and if a few dollars land in the tip jar, then great. One thing that you will never get here is someone else writing my posts for me. This is my blog, and I intend to keep it that way.

  • Although you didnt make it for April I wonder if you will make it for the full year... Income of at least $120k with 365 blog posts etc....

    • I don't make my money from this blog. The money comes from Futurelooks. I don't count on this blog for much except as a daily journal.

      • Well I figured that much 😉 I know futurelooks is where the money is at for you. I have been reading your blog for months now. I was more meaning if you drop down a month on the $10k earnings you mentioned at point 2 then over a year it would hopefully average out to over 10k per month for those that you go higher to balance the months that you were lower.

        • There are months where I blow it away. There are months where I drag my ass, but hey, I like having a life 🙂 Ultimately, I'd like to hit 10K a month consistently. I really enjoy my time away from the computer so I won't sacrifice my "Me Times" to hit it. More than ever, I've put a higher priority on enjoying life 😉

      • BTW how can I join Future looks

  • well it's just going to get harder now, since summer is near...

    • Maybe. Maybe not. I will be at COMPUTEX in June. Lots of deals to be made there 😀
