Doing that DIY (Do it Yourself) Install Thing…

Doing that DIY (Do it Yourself) Install Thing...

I’ll have to admit that I’ve never done a serious car audio install in my life.  Sure, I installed my own deck one time, but that was easy.  Just plug in the harness and go, and it sounds like ass.  Heck, I even installed my own door speakers, albeit very badly because I used electrical tape to tape them to the door because I didn’t want to drill!

So today, I got to install my own Subwoofer.  Previously, I had my new deck, speakers, and 2 channel amp installed by a pro installer, but it just didn’t sound quite right without a subwoofer, so I decided to get it done.  I did consider getting the installer to do it again, but I was convinced by Ken to DIY!

Doing that DIY (Do it Yourself) Install Thing...

So with Ken’s help, we decided to install the above pile of stuff into my car.  We started with a Alpine V12 Mono Sub Amp, a Diamond Audio 10″ Subwoofer, and a compact Sub Box, plus lotsof wires and zip ties and other automotive goodies.  After about 6 hrs, we completed the job, and probably tied the record for slowest subwoofer install ever! LOL!

Overall, I really was pleased with doing the install on our own.  I learned a lot, though one thing I can’t understand is why we have some bolts leftover?!  After playing and tweaking with the settings on the amp and deck, I was truly AMAZED at how much sound this woofer put out.  The trip down to the US and getting bent over by customs may actually have been worth it!  My car sounds completely awesome!  In fact, the subwoofer was actually so powerful, I had to turn it down.  Now, when I need a massage, i just turn up the woofer!

Yeah, having bolts left over is definitely not good! But we should probably make it clear that those bolts were there for us to find! LOL!

Whatever lets you sleep at night! LOL! Our cars may be cheap, but I don’t think it is the same as IKEA furniture where you might get some extras ;) I’m sure I’ll figure out what they are for…eventually…

Thanks for the help today! I no longer need back massages!

Silly Amanda! Not that kind of back massage! :P The woofer thumps so hard, that I get a perpetual massage whenever I listen to the stereo.
