Crossing for Mexican Food and Paying the Price!

Well, I went across the border into Washington today for some Mexican food.  Using my Fine Digital FineDrive 400 GPS system, I was able to make it there without getting lost, as I often do in an area I’m not familiar with.  I can’t believe people don’t have one of these in their cars as standard equipment!  After using it, I don’t think I could drive without it!

I mentioned that I paid a price.  Right!  Lets discuss that shall we!

So I order up some Mexican Platter, can’t recall the name, and I order the big one because I’m used to small portions up in Canada.  I forget that I’m now over the border in the US where size 14 runners are common sizes.  I love a challenge, so I down the platter in record time.  Less than an hour later, I’m in the bathroom at Bellis Fair Mall, writhing in some severe discomfort.  I don’t think I’m going to order the large platter with refried beans again!

Second price I paid was going back over the border.  I had spotted a great deal on a subwoofer for my wagon.  I got an Alpine Subwoofer Amp, 10 inch Diamond Audio Sub, and a Sub Enclosure for under $250 US.  I also managed to pick up a whole new wardrobe at the Burlington Factory Outlet.  Well, mainly standard pieces to perk up my wardrobe.  The CDN dollar is strong so everything is a deal right now! LOL!

I go over the border and declare about 60 bucks of the 200 bucks of clothing that was purchased, and the whole sub works.  They charge me duty on the sub stuff and the clothing that I declared, but didn’t give me an option to get back the local taxes that I paid?  So long story short, I paid taxes on taxes, and was not given an option to claim back the US taxes I paid.  Now that’s a rip, and you wonder why people don’t declare stuff when they go over the border huh?

Lesson Learnt: Don’t declare anything over the border.  Hide it, conceal it, do everything possible to not let those crooks steal from you!
