Who Gets to Help Their Favourite Charity Today?

I was sort of hoping that I would get a little more encouragement to extend the contest, but what we managed to accomplish together with the help of other bloggers has been fantastic. With all your support, we have managed to raise $168 US which one lucky person will be able to point towards a charity of ther choice. Again, I’d like to thank Gary and Erin again for their commitment to helping others.
The lucky winner of this contest, who I am about to draw, will also receive a copy of NBA Live 2007 for the PC to enjoy. This version of the game is in Chinese, courtesy of EA, but the installer will convert to English on an English version of Windows, so don’t worry. You’ll definitely be able to play it as long as you don’t need the instructions or can read Chinese.
The Winner Is…
From July 3 to July 16, we came up with a total of 56 entries which included a bonus double entry if you blogged about it and pinged me back. 10 of you blogged about the contest which means we had 46 people enter the contest for a chance for to be able to help a charity of their choice and of course, NBA Live 2007 for the PC. After putting everyone’s name into a bucket and shaking vigorously, I pulled out one name. The winner of this contest is Ryan Shamus.
Ryan took advantage of the double entry by blogging about the contest and his bit of extra work paid off. Congratulations Ryan! You will now experience something that few people get to enjoy, which is the feeling you get from helping others. Please contact me with your shipping address and a link to the charity of your choice, and I’ll take care of the rest. Just for being the winner, I’m also going to mention Ryan’s Latest Contest to win a bunch of cool prizes. All you have to do is guess the date of the Next Google Page Rank Update. Go enter now!
Although Ryan wins the contest, in reality, everyone wins so give yourselves a pat on the back for your efforts. We all contributed to doing something really cool for charity. Good on you all and stay tuned for the next contest. Hopefully, we start something here today that will catch on and become part of the blogosphere. It’s up to all of us to “Make a Difference Online”.
Thank You Bloggers For Your Commitment to Charity!

First off, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Gary and Erin again for their generous pledge to match me dollar for dollar during my Latest Contest for Charity. This put up to $300 US in the winner’s hand to giveaway to his or her favourite charity. Thanks again for your commitment to “Making a Difference Online”. I’d also like to thank all the bloggers for spreading the word and blogging about the contest including the following bloggers that helped pimp out the contest one last time:
- Foximus - Win Some Booty. Give to Charity.
- MurphyzVille - Game Giveaway
- Clay Blacker - Make a Comment, Help Some Kids!
- Get Your Blog Goodies - NBA Live 2007 Game and a donation to a charity of your choice
- Ryan Shamus - Contest Saturday 1
Thank you again for giving this contest a push. Your efforts were truly appreciated and doesn’t it feel good? :)
So, How Did We Do?
As a result of everyone’s efforts, we’ve been able to come up with 56 entries which equals $56 US plus matching pledges from Gary and Erin for a total of $168 US. Although I was after 100 entries so we could make our maximum pledge of $300 US, I think that what is most important is that there are folks like you that still care enough to make a difference. Now everyone, share in that warm and fuzzy feeling. You deserve it! However, it is a shame that people care more about winning useless products (John calls it that too!) than they do about helping out their favourite charity with up to a $300 US donation. Not to mention a copy of NBA Live 2007 for the PC as well! 243 comments on that one and it only got a 4/10 in the review! Quite puzzling indeed! OK, I guess The Root of All Evil did offer to sign it
Wait Stephen! Extend This Contest! Let’s Get to $100!
Thanks for your enthusiasm. I would love to extend this contest, but I don’t think it will help to drag it along much longer. However, I’m probably going to be lazy and draw the winner sometime later tonight so if I get enough pleading and begging to extend it, then I might change my mind and give it a bit more time.
Thanks again everyone for Making a Difference Online! =)

Sorry for the lack of updates over the last few days. I’ve been busy enjoying the sun and catching up with a small backlog of reviews over at Futurelooks. If you have a chance, head over and check out our latest reviews. It’s been great to be able to just sit outside and work with a beer in hand. Anyway, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for all the entries in my latest contest. But first, I’d like to dish out some special thanks to bloggers who have stepped up to help me “Make a Difference Online”.
Stepping Up For A Great Cause
First off, I’d like to thank Gary Jones at BlueFur and Erin Berringer at Newport Business Media. Both of these big hearted bloggers have decided to follow me in making a difference online by matching me DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR up to $100 US during my latest contest. This means that the lucky winner of the contest will be able to wield up to $300 US to a charity of their choice AND walk away with a copy of NBA Live 2007 for the PC. Thanks again for your generosity and commitment to charity
Bloggers Helping To Make a Difference
As part of the entry rules for my contest, I’ve allowed entrants to double up their entries by simply telling others about my contest and pinging me back from their blog. Here are the current list of blogs that have pinged me back to help push this contest to the One Hundred Entries we need to maximize the donation:
- Gary Jones - A Challenge for Children (Thanks again Gary!)
- Erin Berringer - The Best Kind of Contest - For The Kids (Thanks again Erin!)
- Michael Kwan - Winning This Could Be Your Most Charitable Act
- Matt’s Blog - Do the Right Thing, Post a Comment and Donate $3 to the BC Children’s Hospital (Although I’m partial to the Children’s Hospital, it’s up to the Winner to Choose the Winning Charity)
- Contest Blogger - Win a cool game and $100 for charity at Stephen Fung Dot Net
Thanks again for the links and the pingbacks. You’ve all got double the chances to win your chance to make up to a $300 US donation to a charity of your choice. The feeling you get when you give is priceless so goodluck everyone!
I Want to Give Your Money to Charity and Win NBA Live 2007. How Do I Do it?
This is probably going to be one of the easiest contests you’ll ever enter that will make a big difference to the less fortunate. All you have to do to win is just post a comment in my contest posting and you’re entered. To get a double entry, all you need to do is make a post about the contest and ping me back. Easy enough?
Where Are We At So Far?
The road to 100 entries ends on July 16th and so far we are at officially 32 entries including pingbacks. That means that we still need 68 entries to make our goal. Do the right thing this week and ping me back with a link to the contest so that we can let more people know what we’re trying to do. If you’re lucky, I might even mention that you blogged about it like I did for the bloggers above.
A charity out there is waiting for you to make a donation and you’ll get to play NBA Live 2007. Everyone wins. Nobody loses ;) Enter Today!
A Gift Of Games To Those Who Need It The Most

July 3, 2007
While at COMPUTEX 2007 in Taipei, I came back with a substantial booty haul of goodies. Among them were a number of games that I picked up during the FiringSquad Invitational. I thought very hard about how I would deal with the free stuff and of course a giveaway was at the top of the list. Now, I could follow in the footsteps of the the Root of All Evil and do your average, everyday, drive a few visitors to my site, contest that everyone else does, but I felt that there were other opporunities available. Mind you, there’s nothing wrong with a regular giveaway. Free stuff is still good

If you recall, earlier this year I helped donate a Gaming System to the BC Children’s Hospital from the Tiger Direct Charity PC Race at CES 2007. The foundation was very surprised and excited to receive such a gift and it gave me a sense of overwhelming joy to make it happen. You really can’t buy a feeling like that. With such a cool gaming system, you obviously need some cool games. That’s why I’ve decided to giveaway the non-violent games, which include FIFA 07, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07, and NBA Live 2007 to the BC Children’s Hospital where they can be installed on that gaming system. Hopefully they can bring some joy to our young heroes as they battle their illnesses. I hope that’s OK with you guys
But Wait! That’s Not All!

I’d like to continue with my commitment as a Dot Com Mogul Candidate by giving you guys a chance to win my extra copy of NBA Live 2007 and trigger up to a $100 US Donation to a Charity of the Winner’s Choice so you too can experience what it feels like to give. All you have to do to enter this contest is just leave a comment. I will accept pingbacks as double entries so I encourage you to blog about it to increase your chances of winning. The goal is to get to ONE HUNDRED ENTRIES so that I can match that with the $100 US Donation.
So what do you folks think? Good contest? Think the kids will be happy with the games? Enter today and make a difference! Let’s see if we can get there by Monday, July 16th without having to extend the deadline this time. Good Luck Everyone!
