Cool KYMCO Scooter Ad from Taiwan…

In North America, KYMCO isn’t that well known of a brand name. However, in places like Taiwan, they are considered one of the cooler brands, especially when it comes to Scooters. Now I know that some of you don’t equate “cool” with “scooters” but I thought it was pretty interesting to see the effort that this company puts into their branding…

The scooter in the ad is called the KYMCO Racing 150. It’s sort of a factory riced out version of my KYMCO Bet&Win 150, but with sport suspension and some other performance upgrades. However, I find it highly unlikely that it could really chase down a Ferrari no matter how many degrees it can bank a corner at. But then again, traffic rules are really suggestions in Taiwan. Go Scooter!

Dot Com Dinner Chef – Battling Bison

During the last battle, I mentioned that a quarter of a bison wandered into my freezer. Ever since, I’ve been trying to figure out what to do with it. I decided to try a couple of simple things…

Dot Com Dinner Chef Battling Bison

First thing I did, was do a simple pan fried bison steak. I just wanted to see how this meat cooked and just treated it like any steak. Seasoned with a bit of salt and pepper, I let it hit the grill. That was a bit of a mistake. First thing I noticed was that it cooked extremely fast. Quite a bit faster than beef due to the low fat content. In fact, it cooked so fast that I almost took my medium rare to well done. You can see that some of the cuts of meat looked more done than the other half. Oops. It was still good though, but one side was a little tougher than the other. Definitely still tasty.

I tried again the next day and used a little less heat. After searing the first side for about thirty seconds, I flipped it over and turned the heat to low. I then let it cook till it was medium rare by touch. I then removed the meat from the heat and let it rest. The bison steak turned out evenly cooked to medium rare and was very tender and juicy. Followed by a side of greens and some yam fries, it kept me quite full throughout the GetConnected Party. It was probably one of the best steaks that I’d had in a while.

With a quarter of this beast inhabiting my freezer, I’m definitely going to enjoy this meat many more times in the coming months. I think I’m going to have to defrost that bison roast for a bit of slow cooking action this weekend.

Getting Connected With The BlinkMedia Crew

This past Thursday, members of the Dot Com Pho Crew went down to hang out with the BlinkMedia Works Crew, makers of the Canadian Tech TV show, GetConnected TV. In addition to the TV show, they also run business technology conferences, workshops and exclusive exhibitions. The event was a chance for the principals, AJ Vickery, Lindsay Smith & Mike Agerbo, to show off their studio and their operation.

They took care of all their guests with food, drinks and prizes throughout the night and the event was generally packed through the evening. Joining me was John Chow, Greg Morgan, Gary Ng and even our long lost friend, Ian Lee, who decided he owed me a ride downtown. We also bumped into Jeff Kee down there.

It looked like everyone was at the party except for missing in Deadmonton, Michael Kwan, and for some reason, even with the food and beautiful girls, Ed Lau was nowhere to be seen. We were concerned that he might have been kidnapped by Yakuza and tossed into an underground SUMO Wrestling ring. I think Leo Chiang was banging chicks or something.

They were also giving tours of their studio and doing interviews with guests onsite. Gary got interviewed by Mike Agerbo about his favourite topic: The iPhone of course! The interview went well and you can see it right here

Unfortunatley, John Chow tried to take over the show and that’s when things got really ugly. We’ve always known that John liked balls and jamming to Rick Astley, but things just got worse from there…

With enough drinks in him, he then started hitting on men with handlebar moustaches under the disco ball. In a sick twisted way, it was for a good cause because this brings attention to the Movember Fundraising Event for Prostate Cancer. More pictures from this event after the jump…
